Multiple award-winning freelance photojournalist Daniel Beltrá is a recent recipient of The Prince’s Rainforests Project Award. There will be several exhibitions of Daniel’s work for the project around the world. I had the opportunity to create prints for two of the shows, in New York and one tentatively upcoming for Portland. We selected a highly appropriate and beautiful paper for these prints. Hahnemühle developed two new papers to address the environmental concerns with the manufacture of paper in the traditional ways, Bamboo and Sugar Cane. Sugar Cane has a similar look and feel to William Turner, Daniel’s previous preference. It combines the high standards of a FineArt inkjet paper with responsible use of raw materials. A “bagasse” pulp is used that is a by-product of raw sugar production. The cotton portion is made from recycling Hahnemühle’s own paper waste. Considering this artist’s commitment to the betterment of the planet, this new paper is a timely and perfect option, the 30″ x 40″ prints are beautiful, the gamut and density performance typical of all of the Hahnemühle line.
I’d like to thank Tom and my old friend Jim Doyle at Shades Of Paper for running down and getting me all the paper I needed for this in very short notice, they are the best.
I have no official links yet for the NYC show, but here are the details-
